Borderline Civil War Spreads across US
Democrats fan the flames and throw gasoline. Republicans bring the torches and tanks to turn up the heat.
In the part of my last editorial that was for paying subscribers only, I included some comments on the civil conflict that broke out in LA over the weekend. I’m now going to share it with everyone because that part was just some last-minute thoughts tagged onto the section about the darker shadows of the Trump-Musk blowout, but it gives you my position before I continue:
Also, in the headlines that follow you can read all about the break-out of something that looks like civil war in L.A. It’s literally a borderline war because the rioting is all about stopping the US from enforcing its border.
While Governor Newsom talks about Trump acting illegally for calling out the National Guard to put down the rioting because normally that is the call of a governor, even though the US government funds the National Guard, on the issue of this rioting, Democrats (Newsom especially) are the ones who in large numbers are flagrantly disregarding national law and have been doing so for a few years.
Only Democrats have turned their cities into sanctuaries from US law in order to aid and abet illegal aliens, helping them avoid legal capture, just because Democrats don’t believe in the laws restricting access to this country and think it is fine to use their resources to try to obstruct the US government from enforcing its own laws. Even though they all had a hand creating those laws during all the decades over which they were drafted, they are doing their best to avert the law.
It’s one of the lowest forms of anti-law politicking there is—aligning yourself with people breaking your nation’s laws just to keep yourself in good with your own citizens of their nationality and hopefully (in the mind of the lawbreaker) with those aliens if you are ever able to stack them into the country as legal voters someday (which, if it were up to most Dems wouldn’t even require them to be a citizen).
As Jesus first said, and Lincoln later alluded to in a campaign speech, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” That’s the US right now.
A house divided
The United States has certainly become a divided house, and both major parties have done their best to take it there. The liberal/progressive Democrat side, as I stated above, has flagrantly disobeyed the immigration laws of this land for years, and they have enticed anyone who is here illegally to go to Democrat-controlled cities to find refuge, where the Democrats do all they can to shield them from being deported.
To me the claim that people must be given due legal process when they are here without the legal paperwork required to live here is a baldfaced and even absurd lie. Let me ask a simple question in order to prove it: If they arrived at the border without the legal paperwork they needed just to enter or to live here, would they be allowed to cross? No. If you arrive without the visa/passport/green card you need for the stated purpose of your stay here, you are turned away at the border. At least, most of the time.
The argument for due process actually says that, if these people without the legal right to cross the border are especially devious, however, and find a way to skate across without our seeing them, then we must spend thousands of dollars and a year of time processing them through our court system, instead of just rounding them back up and saying, “We told you you cannot enter; now, get lost!”
This is the kind of absurd mental game-playing liberals have engaged in for years that has brought our nation to this present peril and has stirred up huge social conflict. It’s an obscene financial burden for a nation to saddle itself with for the sake of people authorities would have just turned away at the border if they tried to enter without sneaking across. There is no entitlement to due process that is intended to allow you to shortcut the system or overburden it with your undeserved caretaking. It’s just “Go back to the end of the line, and do it right like others are doing!”
If you do not have the required paperwork when you arrive at the border-patrol station. You are simply not allowed to enter until you have all the right paperwork. There is no reason, therefore, anything more than checking for your paperwork should be required after you’ve crossed the border.
Liberals want to make the process so laborious that as many immigrants as possible can cross the border, and they don’t seem to care at all that millions of these people made it across without the right paperwork by crawling through culverts or jumping fences so that no one in the government knows a thing about them. Therefore, it is a foregone conclusion that, of course, they could be terrorists. There is zero logical basis for any argument that claims—even though we know nothing about millions of these people—none of them can be terrorists.
So, the idea that we should spend many millions more feeding them and housing them in secure facilities and covering there medical while they remain ineligible to work and taking care of and even educating their children is nothing short of social brain death that says, “We owe the world EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING IT WANTS, WE MUST DO!” That is what the liberal agenda on immigration really adds up to.
On the other side, you have conservative Republicans who have long passed laws making certain aliens illegal but then turned a blind eye for decades to their coming across the border. They’ve done this by design because their rich cronies craved the cheap labor. From Republican farmers to rich casino and hotel owners—say the day-to-day friends of the Don—their business model depended on cheap crop workers, cheap housekeeping, cheap dish washers, cheap table cleaners, etc. This was for decades the Republican way of insourcing the outsourcing; i.e., bringing cheap foreign labor into the country to do those menial jobs that cannot be outsourced because they must be done here, such as working the grounds on those fancy golf courses.
For years now, I’ve written that both parties were effectively creating a peasant class of workers—people who own no land, have no voting rights, can be deported at the drop of a hat if someone really wants them gone because they complain about their working conditions. These are a people who won’t complain about not having any benefits because the job they get is better than they had at home. The reason for making them illegal isn’t truly to keep them out (as they tell their constituents), it is to make them CHEAP. If you’re in the country illegally, you have to keep your head down and mind your own business.
The rationale has long been the lie that they are only filling jobs Americans don’t want. There are no jobs that Americans don’t want. At the right price, I guarantee you’ll find people who want the jobs. What they really mean but are not honest enough to say is that these are jobs that pay so poorly that no American would work that cheaply because Americans dream of something more than a corrugated metal shack with a water bucket for a sink. And the wages have increasingly fallen below what Americans will work for because the peasant pool has constantly been expanded to fill in that void, suppressing those wages from rising.
What would have happened if no migrant labor was ever allowed? The only way those farmers and restauranteurs and hoteliers would have been able to provide their services would have been to charge more OR make less profit. Society would have had to downshift as manufacturer and service provider find a meeting point with consumers on a price, meaning prices would be higher for all of us. There is a price at which everything will sell. It would, in short be a more egalitarian society because a lot of jobs would have to pay a lot more to find enough people to fill them.
So, we wanted the peasant class to raise our standard of living.
Along the way for years, I’ve warned that, with every peasant class, there is eventually a peasant revolt. It looks like this is going to be it. When you try to rectify the problem quickly after intentionally turning a blind eye to it for many decades, the correction is going to tear the fabric of the nation because we are talking about people, their lives, and their families. So, the transformation will be heart-breaking and angering fro many. Hence, this correction for years of past wrongs looks like it could become salvage because people are willing to fight, and that will require a tough response from the Trump government if they are going to carry through.
The ICE princess cometh
ICE princess, Kristi Noem, sounds like she’s ready to rumble. Sadly, for all of us, Democrats are determined to help the illegal entries resist inside the US and to create a lot of social trouble and turmoil for anyone in the federal government who now tries to actually enforce the law and deport people. Noem is ready to get tough, and that means those who encourage people to keep breaking the nation’s immigration laws are encouraging a lot of violence if the feds decide they’re finally going to do their job and enforce the laws that both Republicans and Democrats created. They are pushing people in front of the tracks of army tanks:
“We’re coming in and doing what the president has said that he’s going to do,” she told Fox News’ Hannity. “The more that people conduct violence against law enforcement officers, boy, we’re going to hit ‘em back, and we’re going to hit ‘em back harder than we ever have before.”
Noem also took a swipe at Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass….
“She’s holding press conferences talking about the fact that people have the right to peacefully protest and that they’re a city of immigrants,” Noem said. “Well, they’re not a city of immigrants, they’re a city of criminals, because she has protected them for so many years.”
Bass and Newsom have both accused Trump of “manufacturing a crisis” in Los Angeles to justify the heavy-handed response to protesters.
This crisis was manufactured by both parties, who both refuse to own responsibility for their own role in creating a peasant class by making people illegal so they cannot openly complain and then turning a blind eye to their arriving and living here for decades in order to harvest their labor as cheaply as possible. The time eventually comes when you pay for living outside your own laws.
It was made much worse solely by Democrats in the last few years who decided to go further than “turning a blind eye” and aid and abet lawbreakers by providing them refuge from their own national government. These local leaders pitted their own local governments against the national government, refusing to recognize constitutional law that clearly says the national government completely supersedes local and state government when it comes to the the right to pass laws governing immigration and to enforce those laws and the nation’s borders. Democrats CHOSE to stand in the way of that. So, they have, more than anyone, manufactured this crisis, though both parties played a long-term role in setting it up.
Since the Trump government is making it clear that they ARE going to do what they are entitled to do, local and regional Dems need to get their enabling butts out of the way because they are encouraging people to get themselves killed:
In a separate interview on Hannity, Attorney General Pam Bondi also threatened federal charges against protesters who “abuse” law enforcement officers.
“We can prosecute federally people who assault state law enforcement officers with a maximum of five years in prison,” she warned. “And we are going to do it… If California won’t protect their law enforcement, we will protect the LAPD and the Sheriff’s Oifice out there.”
We’re now seeing the military move in, which wouldn’t have to happen if Dems got out of the way and helped the nation enforce the laws they helped create; but this also gives Trump what some are claiming he wants—the opportunity to declare a national emergency and martial law so he can exponentially increase his czar-like powers. It is his right to do within the law what it takes to enforce the law.
Some argue that deployment of the military, other than the National Guard, is not allowed for controlling our own citizens, and the National Guard is normally statutorily under the control of governors; so this may become a constitutional crisis in which Dem’s are fomenting a situation that presses Trump to act more extremely if he is going to do his job of enforcing immigration laws, while some National Guardsmen may decide to obey their governor, as is the customary chain of command, and not the president.
As the fires of protest now spread to other cities around the nation, we are likely looking at the kind of wide civil unrest we saw in the late sixties and early seventies; and we have huge numbers of Democrats doing all they can to entice that behavior. So, the chaos is about to rip a larger tear in the fabric of US society than we’ve seen in decades and maybe as large as we’ve seen since the Civil War.
Since both Republicans and Democrats have pushed this situation along for decades, this is now a conflict that has gone from being about the border to bordering on being a full-on civil war with the National Guard called out by the president and the marines. So, it’s also a borderline civl war in the sense as being as close to all-out civil war as you get, short of just calling it that, because it even involves various regional governments aligning with different citizens’ groups to fight the federal in government in armed conflict. At this point the Disunited States of America are definitely a house divided against itself, at risk of falling into severe collapse if wiser heads don’t prevail on all sides.
