“Donald Trump pioneers a strange policy: Republican socialism. Socialism used to be the antithesis of Republican principles. But Donald Trump has begun a government invasion of the private sector.” — Steve Chapman, Chicago Tribune

Donald Trump is not and never has been a Republican. He is a life-long New York Democrat who descended an escalator in 2015 wearing a Republican Mardi Gras mask. His form of Socialism is plain ol’ big government Socialism that has been promoted and practiced by Democrats for generations.

The MAGA faithful, populated by former tea-party Republicans who’ve lost their way, has substituted Trumpism for Conservatism. Unfortunately, the members of his cult of personality are just like Adolf Hitler’s. No, Trump is not Hitler, but his apostles revere him as a god the same way the Nazis revered Hitler. But instead of straight-arm salutes, his sycophants regale him with MAGA hats and cries of “TDS” and “RINO” against any and all true Republicans.

I suspect they will get flushed in a great Trumpian crypto bust at some point. One major financial official in Russia says that is exactly the plan to clear the US debt—turn it into crypto then flush it. I think, however, Trump’s plan is to make sure he makes bank off of whatever happens.

if they succeed does that leave the USA as an island that nobody will trade with?

Hard to say, but probably not. Trump is clearly pushing hard in ways that could make us an island, as that is what isolationism means; but his goal is to keep trade going, so I would think he would not go that far, EXCEPT that we become an island by degrees. So, then the answer is that, by degrees, yes. Just how completely isolated we become, I have no idea, but we've already seen one or two nations indicate they will just stop trading with us. The higher you raise the bar, the more there will be nations that say it isn't worth it, especially if they are smaller nations and don't rely heavily on US trade.
