Economists Place 70% Chance for US Recession in 2023
While Wells-Fargo goes on a Christmas fine spending spree
Economists aren’t the sharpest knives on the Christmas tree. They typically predict a high likelihood of a recession when we are already in one. It’s like a weather person predicting rain to begin later today while standing under a dripping umbrella. This week economists join in unison to predict a 70% chance of recession next year. And, not the brightest knives in the lightbulb drawer, are big banks like Wells Fargo that never learn from their crime losses. Wells seems intent on building its reputation as the ugliest shark in the pond and gets slapped with billions in fines. Until courts and regulators start sucking 100% of all fines out of the personal wealth of CEOs and board members first, then out of the company, the crime will continue. Time to rewrite corporate laws to force more direct accountability, and if you can’t handle that heat, stop lighting fires. Meanwhile, idiotic market denial still dominates financial writing in spite of the fact that Jerome Powell has become increasingly hawkish at every FOMC meeting.
