Well said, David. The market’s “flickers of hope” look more like denial than analysis. This Iran conflict is already driving energy shocks, inflation, and munitions depletion while delivering little strategic gain. As we argued in our recent piece on Restoring the Republic, endless entanglements, foreign influence, and fiat-enabled spending are symptoms of deeper institutional decay. Real honor and stability require strategic restraint, ending the empire abroad, and returning to sound money at home.
And to think Trump practically promised ending the empire with his "no new wars," and he's turned out to be the most imperial president in my lifetime if not in the lifetime of the nation.
We can only hope/pray that Trump doesn't bring in ground troops to Kharg Island. Military analysts such as Scott Ritter and David McGregor both are certain they will be slaughtered by Iran. They also fear Iran pushing further attacks into Kuwait where there are apparently thousands of US troops in support positions, not combat ready. Getting scarier than ever out there. Thanks for another great article
Thanks, Tom. Kharg could easily be a suicide mission where Iran closes the purse seine around them as soon as they're all gathered and set up camp on the island.
