Today, I want to call attention to another story similar to yesterday’s that didn’t originally get near the press coverage:
It’s about a beautiful young woman who was savagely murdered on a train in Charlotte, NC. on August 22nd. She simply walks on the train after her job at a pizzeria, sits down quietly minding her own business, and a man with a long rap sheet of violent crimes, already sitting in the seat behind hers, stands up (unseen by her) and stabs her multiple times. (You can see the setup for the incident in the video in the story, which spares you the actual stabbing in order to see how completely random it appears to be and how peaceable the young woman was.)
What really puzzles me is how pictures of the man leaving the train after the murder make it appear no one on the train even cared. They just keep looking at their cell phones or whatever they were looking down at. I’m nearly certain I would have jumped up and gone for the knife, regardless of risk, because I couldn’t bear to watch such a thing happen. I’d rather die than live on as a person who did nothing and let it happen.
The media barely cared. The mayor actually thanks people for keeping the story quiet. Some say the media and the mayor turned a blind eye because the murderer was Black and the victim was White.
What the heck! Iryna was not only a beautiful young woman, but her coworkers describe her as very pleasant and kind and much in love with America. They describe her as someone they loved to work with. All she did was walk onto a train!
I reposted another story about the incident on my X account yesterday:
“She loved America. We failed her.”
On a soulless city train in Charlotte, a young woman cried alone, her hands holding her face, as she slowly bled out and life left her body. It was one of the saddest things I have ever seen….
Why do we keep allowing this? It’s so evil. The people on the train don’t even look up. The young woman surely must have been screaming, and they could have easily seen what was happening. Even the mayor, to her own extreme disgrace, focuses in a liberal Democrat way on the poor murderer’s homeless situation and poor mental health and how locking him up would have never done any good anyway:
What makes this senseless killing difficult to process is that her attacker had been arrested over fourteen times and was free on cashless bail. He had a history of violently attacking women and was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. After footage of Iryna's murder came out, Charlotte's Democratic Mayor immediately politicized the situation, releasing a tone-deaf and baffling statement:
"We will never arrest our way out [of] issues such as homelessness and mental health," she said. Adding: "mental health, like the schizophrenia Brown was diagnosed with, "needs to be treated with the same compassion, diligence and commitment as cancer and heart disease. She even went so far as to say: "those who are unhoused are more frequently the victim of crimes and not the perpetrators."
It’s almost unbelievable that people can be that naive. Locking him up would have done all the good in the world if they just threw away the key. Now that he’s killed someone, killing him would do a lot of good in potentially saving others since we clearly cannot trust our elected officials to keep them in prison for life. Why should society have the burden of keeping him alive in a maximum security prison for another fifty years?
In my state we passed a three-strikes-and-your-out law, meaning on your third violent crime you went to prison for life. Why three? Why wait that long? And why does it seem violent criminals in my state still don’t go to prison for life?
The author of the second story “worked as a consultant for multiple progressive District Attorney candidates backed by George Soros.” She has since experienced something of a transformation. Would that the rest of progressives would, too.
I thought I was on the side of the good guys. But a few years later, after I moved from a suburban California town to San Francisco, I realized the grave damage the criminal justice reform movement had caused America's cities.
Just a mile from my old home in San Francisco, a spree of violent muggings done by teens targeting moms and nannies with young children sobered me quickly. The caregivers were robbed in broad daylight, as they strolled toddlers and babies to nearby parks. My son was just a year old at the time, and I stopped taking him to the park for a while.
Almost every time I walked down the street, I'd encounter someone in distress. I’d see a man or woman passed out on drugs, often mentally unwell. Within the span of less than two years, my car got broken into three times, a neighbor assaulted me while on a walk, cursing me out and stepping on my foot for no reason, and someone burglarized my garage, stealing my bike. For all of those crimes, I only filed one police report….
I covered some of the stories of crimes in SF where a blind eye was being turned, as many others did and about how SF was defining itself out of crime by raising the bar of what would constitute a criminal offense. By doing that, they were able to claim that crime in their region went way own. No, just the number of people they classify as criminals went way down because the perps had to do twice as much to make the cut! Just another way our society is currently playing out the tale of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” We’ll just all pretend it is what it isn’t. Change the definition of a crime so we can say we solved crime.
Sick people in society act like they are compassionate for letting people like the murderer in today’s story get out of jail and roam free. How was that compassionate to this kind, much-loved-by-her-coworkers, Ukrainian immigrant who came to America with hope because she believed America was great and to avoid war and violence in her homeland?
For a little mental stretch, I recommend reading both stories.
Fortunately, while the media paid about as much attention as the zombies on the bus that day, Elon Musk paid a lot of attention and pledged a million dollars to a campaign that will, among other things, create murals all around the nation to make Iryna the lovely (albeit unbearably tragic) face of violent-crime victims to try to say this Liberal insanity ends here!
So much more can be said about this heartbreaking incident, but the day is late, so please read the stories.
