I went water skiing with 2 guys, 69 and 73. I am 61. I had to remove all starches and sugar's. Mostly a meat diet to eliminate body fat and arthritis. Lusten to Dr. Chafee on youtube.

I've been doing the same to get down to my appropriate weight. It's going pretty well. I do a 8/16 intermittent fast--eight hours when I can eat and 16 when I can't. Breakfast is the meal that doesn't exist for me because it's easy for me to leave out since I can't eat eggs. My eight hours starts with lunch and is usually just a piece of meat, like an oven-roasted chicken breast. Then for dinner, I can eat what I want, but I try to restrict the starches and sugars to little or none. So, I eat meat and mostly green vegetables.
