Update: I would love to continue The Daily Doom, but I will need a partner to do so –someone who likes the concept already demonstrated here who wants a daily newsletter for his or her own website/readership that works this niche but who doesn’t have the three hours per day that I spend to put this together – someone who already has a much larger audience than the 1,500 per day average that my own site, The Great Recession Blog, has. We can each benefit from my work joined with your audience because I have an eye for this kind of news and have been writing in this field for over a decade on my own blog and on RT, Seeking Alpha, Zero Hedge, Talk Markets, and about fifty other small economic/financial websites.
The main challenge I face is that my own small site has brought in about as many free subscriptions as it is going to during this test period, which is not enough to justify the time spent. However, I think the concept for The Daily Doom is strong, if I find a much bigger net to build the reader base — an established audience with someone who is already interested in having a daily paid newsletter. You provide the audience of potential subscribers. I provide the daily feature, which is simple like The Drudge Report but more organized, dated, archived, delivered by email and, especially, more focused on economic content. We equally share the ownership rewards in the newsletter.
Readers are still encouraged to comment at the bottom of today’s Daily Doom post on Substack or via a reply email to today’s free email edition to let me know if they would likely pay $5 for a monthly subscription next year. Help with sharing this offer if you know someone who has a large audience but doesn’t yet have a daily financial/economic news feature of their own may be essential to it continuing if you are one of the 560+ free subscribers who are enjoying it so far. I’m just broadly exploring the avenues to make this a success.
