Incredible breakdown of the transparnecy angle. What gets me is how openly stating "we'll run thecountry and take their oil" actually might be worse PR than the usual democracy-export spin since it leaves zero room for plausible deniability. I remember when every intervention had at least a thin veneer of humanitarian justification, but this brazen approach could alienate way more allies than it convinces.

For sure. It's the most baldfaced level of imperialism I've ever seen the US express. Usually, as you say, the lay over it a venere of "spreading democracy" or "liberating the oppressed." In my latest article today I found more brazen comments than I did in this one where you can really see this strange kind of transparency ringing alarms all over Europe. It is like they are so overconfident they don't think they even need to hide it any more ... or so twisted they think most people will find it normal and convincing. Some of the comments in Tuesday's editorial quotes were so abruptly direct they were stunning: "We have the right to take whatever we have the power to take if we want it," state as their overarching principle justification.

You are so egocentric it is unbearable.

You have good insight but you allow your ego to step in landmines.

Are you perhaps one of the dwindling MAGA supporters who now has to pretend that Trump did not just start a totally new neocon war with a country we have never been at war with beyond a minor skirmish. They rejoice over you!

No not Maga

Your assumption indicates your flaw.

And we all have flaws-me more than anybody.

I enjoy reading your missives and appreciate your point of view.

Would encourage to keep going.

Did I assume. I thought I asked? I should have been more careful, however, to phrase the final statement as "If that is the case, they rejoice over you" because I deliberately meant not to assume it is the case, which was why I started it as a question.

I'm not sure why you are bothered with my ego on this particular article. Is there something in Trump's new war you wish to defend?

“This was one of the most stunning, effective and powerful displays of American military might and competence in American history….”

Trump achieved his military goal in warp speed. Who knew that a nation that spends $895 billion on their military could so quickly overwhelm a country that spends $4 billion on their military?

They were wise, it appears, and didn't even fight back. Because why? Who really wants Moduro anyway, and why get the snot beat out of you when it is beyond hopeless, as you say. So, best plan, play possum and let Trump have the victory. Big guy beats up two-year old and brags about how strong he is.

Unlike the U.S. and most of the EU, but like China and Russia, Venezuela has a state owned Central Bank. Irrespective of all the other issues, this fact alone drives the Bankstsrs who control the world bat shit crazy. So there is that angle to consider as well.

I’m 💯 against what occurred. But now that it has, it might be very interesting to see where this might lead. Already, we see a former top VZ military official yapping from his prison cell that the Maduro govt was at the tip of the spear for CCP related money laundering in LatAm. And claiming that U.S. officials, including elected ones, were involved and he’s ready to name names and provide proof.

I’m not holding my breath and as you note, this administration (and really every administration) needs multiple distractions to keep the population otherwise divided and distracted.

Carry on.
