A quick one before we head out on vacation:
It wasn’t long ago I said that Israel was rapidly moving into a situation where it could find itself without an ally in the world. This week 77 national delegations left the UN chamber when Netanyahu got up to speak. It was likely the biggest walk-out in UN history, beating his previous record of 55 delegations. The video shows far more empty seats than full ones.
Trump boasted at the UN that he can and will, if necessary, destroy Iran very quickly and easily. His other big claims was that he is renaming artificial intelligence (AI) “super intelligence” (“hereinafter always to be called ‘SI’”) because “artificial” diminishes the fact that it is true and greater intelligence than our own, and he let the world know he would not let any global effort try to control SI. His policy will not be to fear it or to limit it, but to unleash it.
Iran made its UN statement after Trump had just run more fake negotiation hopes up the flag pole in order to turn a nice trade in the markets:
Iran declares “The time for negotiations is over, it’s time for action. Unless the US meets Iran’s demands, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed indefinitely and no further talks will take place,” per Iran’s SNSC chief Rezaei to IRIB.
“I advise Trump: Don’t waste time, just submit to our demands,” he adds.
Doesn’t exactly sound, as Trump had claimed again, like Iran is desperate to make a deal. Of course, neither did Trump sound at the UN like he was in any way trying to negotiate with Iran. Threaten Iran with total annihilation, as he did boasting about how easy it would be before the whole UN, and they have already proven time and again, they will end negotiations. They’ve said many times, “We don’t negotiate under threats.” Iran knows it has the stronger hand here, and another good video (below) by Professor Pape really lays that out clearly and explains why Trump is failing in this war.
