Famished and Enflamed World Hell-Bent on Destroying itself
Talk of war is heating up all over the planet, and the planet is heating up all over on its own.
For the time being ChaosGPT, the AI sent on a mission to destroy all of humanity, seems to be fumbling along, but learning as it goes. If it is not a hoax entirely (as well it might be), it is, at least, as SyFy reports, adorably bad at killing us all. The adorable, I presume, refers to its childlike boasts that it is really, really great and cannot be beat by petty humans because its dad is bigger than your dad … as it stumbles through several fails and faceplants. Still, SyFy notes that Chaos has unlimited time to improve itself, find teammates no one knows about, and learn from its failures. It also demonstrates, they note, what a single bad actor can now get started with just a half an hour’s easy work from his bedroom. How many such tries by different playful morons of ill character does it take before the world is all chaos because of all the background programs in AI set on a course of destruction? If not with ChaosGPT then with the next version of AI to become available for public consumption.
We may get there before Chaos gets us there, however, given the strides humanity is taking to wipe itself out. The EU, much to the chagrin of Putin, is actively seeking now to reinvigorate its expansion policies to bring other Russian satellite nations into the European fold. Taiwan is training its citizens to get ready for a Chinese invasion. Preparedness is fine, but they keep antagonizing China, and battle lines are being drawn all over East Asia. Iran is doing its typical saber rattling and threatens to push Haifa into the sea if Israel takes any actions against its expansion of nuclear power. And Russian TV personalities are boasting like lunatics about how Russia should make clear plans for ruling the world after it starts and wins its nuclear war against the West.
As if all of that is not hot enough, the world is scorching on its own, especially in that eastern Asia region toward the south. The hottest temperatures ever on record (not just hottest April temps) have been recorded in several SE Asian areas, even though spring has barely sprung, much less summer. One result already is what looks to be the worst rice crop in a generation, adding to the global food shortages created by wars, rumors of war, sanctions of war, and last year’s weather.
