I appreciate your post today...very difficult to run a business when it appears you are sabotaging yourself. OK to let the world know this. But also imperative to stick to your principles or soon you will nothing - no subscribers AND no principles. Weather the storm...time is your friend.
It turns out you are correct, not in the severity of your judgment but in your basic statement.
While I did include a headline above (not a statement of my own) that claims North Korea made that threat, the headline now has an added note by X that it was fake news. My own Google search now failed to turn up any story that would verify the threat as well.
I try to be careful to screen out fake news, but there is so much of it now with AI on top of all that existed before that it becomes hard for this one-man team to catch it all, but I will admit it when it happens.
Yesterday was a huge rush of headlines, so I didn't fact-check that one as I usually do with something making extravagant claims (which usually results in my putting aside SEVERAL stories every day that cannot be verified and seem exaggerated. In fact, I put aside several on the day you are writing about here that I didn't find credible enough.)
Not every story can be verified, of course, but if a story seems, at least, plausible and comes from a source that has stood up well when I've tested it before, I put it in. This source was not one of those, so I should have checked it out; but I rushed these EXTRA headlines out, having already put in a huge amount time that day on the main edition. It was more intended for anyone's additional reading than as a set of claims.
