You may beat the inflation rate back down, but all future inflation happens from the new higher benchmark of prices that never fall back down, and central banks never stop trying to push them up.
I don't understand why a car company hasn't made "no-frills" models on the cheap. You can't tell me there aren't people out there who would buy a basic car for less money than what they pay for all the bells and whistles. Especially with the chip shortage going on. Why not make cars so simple that they don't need the chips and wouldn't be bricked by EMF?
There has to be a market for it. Maybe they know (or believe anyway) that people will buy the more expensive one with frills so long as they have not alternative ???
